Guest Worker Programs

In the debates about immigration reform, many businesses advocate guest worker programs time limited visas that bring immigrant workers, supposedly to fill jobs where there is a shortage of U.S. citizen or legal permanent residents available. The problem is that guest workers and work visa programs replace permanent jobs with benefits with temporary jobs without benefits. And guest workers labor without legal protections guaranteed to most U.S. workers.
